Not a good things to read

My roommate says nothing interesting is happening on LJ so I have to make interesting things happen!

Um..

You know what's hot?
Cloud's Bike.
I really can't think of a single object hotter than that.
I'd totally do his bike if it wouldn't hurt.

So like..
And I have this plant and I named it Aki.
And there's this other plant.. I named it Geschwindigkeitsbegrenzung.
And my other plant is Ethel Red. Ethel Red makes me flowers sometimes.
I love my plants.
But not as much as Cloud's bike.

Oh.. And it's 4:04 in the morning.
So I'm not thinking in terms of words.. Just colors.
Orangey red with purple in it.. doodoodoo..
THis probably isn't exciting enough for my roommate yet.. uhm.. let's see..

OH MYGOD ANd EXCITING THINGS!
UM..
I NEED SEVEN MORE MEN!
and..
Yo..yu... some big name.. Jir.. Ji.. Junya. Something at the end.
Shit I can't remember.
Japan?

Valkyrie Profile really has great music.
I shoulda played the game.

Anger is the socially acceptable way to be upset..
Some people won't show any other emotion..
They contort the situation so they can be Angry at it. Instead of sad or upset or lonely or anything..
I guess.. When you're lonely you can be mad at people for not being with you.. So you can find some way to make everything into anger...
Anyway, I think a lot of guys do that.. so that they don't have to deal with sadness or whatever.
But I hate it when I'm trying to talk to people and they get into loops of being angry so that no matter what I say it doesn't work..
Then again I suck at talking in general..

Standardizing the size of paper was really an ingenious idea..
Standardizing the size of scanning beds was really NOT.

There was somehting I ate.. It wasn't a pidgeon and it wasn't a chicken.. Maybe something in the middle.
It had a big can of 7 up stuck inside of it..
And it made the fire alarm go off.
Evil birds..
But it's eaten now.

Krelian. Krelian was freaking awesome. I'd take him over Cloud's bike.

I like my hands.

Maya says the reason I give all objects genders is because I was brought up with clearly defined gender roles. That makes a lot of sense.. when I was a kid I was terrified of being classified as a "boy." Then I grew up to be terrified of being classified as a "girl." Now I want to live the lifestyle of a girl again, but it's too late.. I missed out.

Waspy apples.

Hara!

Art

Hey look I'm writing something in here.
I forget why I have this journal thingy in the first place..

I've been thinking about what makes people artists.
Or rather, what makes people NOT artists.
I can't really concieve of how I'd spend my time if I didn't draw.
I think the reason some people become artists and some don't has nothing to do with talent. I hate it when people tell me that they inherited their talent from their family, or when I say I'm jealous of someone's ability and someone looks at me and says, "It's just something she was born with" or "it's a gift from God."

Screw that. I mean, if it were really that way, then what would be the point of art classes..? What do you say to all the aspiring artists in the world?

No no, it's not anything like that..
If you want to be an artist, you have to do art. All. The. Time.
I can draw because I've done it every day since I was 5, and after all that time, something good's finally coming out of it.

So people who aren't artists are people who don't do that.

Why don't they?

I was thinking about this.. and after seeing some of this going on first hand, I figured it out. The difference between artists and non artists are that, when an artist draws something and it doesn't look perfect, they ignore that and finish the picture anyway. People who aren't artists look at the picture that isn't perfect and give up. Quit.

Everyone draws when they're a kid.. I ask people why they stopped and it's always the same reason.. The frustration over things not looking right.

Then there are some artists who feel that frustration, but don't quit. They draw something, and they don't like it, but instead of quitting, instead of finishing the picture, they become obsessed with fixing it. And those are the people who because absolutely amazing artists, but who are at the same time never happy and never like anything they do.

Ah.. 21 days left in Japan as of this moment.. Sadness.

-Jenshin

Fuzzy Socks

Woah.. I forgot about this thing here.. I guess I should um.. write something in it? Yeah.

Here's an old story but one I like to tell.

Chris - a friend of mine
David - is hot
Maso - a classmate

It started with the fact that Pacific Wars was cancelled for Thursday. It's at the same time as the ninensei class (second year) and so right before class, I hang out with them where they're all waiting for class. And we talk and have fun nad it's when I do most of my drawing in my sketcknotebook.
So this time, I decided to actually go in to class with them. They're doing presentations!!!
They had the most creative presentations. The first one was about Shinto and they acted out some of the myths, including one with a many headed demon. The girl who was the demon dressed in shocking green and had a bunch of shocking green balloons with faces drawn on them as her heads!
The second presentation was Iron Chef complete with sound effects, music, pictures of food, commercial breaks.. it was very awesome and very Japanese.
The third one was some guys talking about movies. It wasn't too lively, but they used very sophisticated Japanese and had great accents for ninensei. And they had the handshakes going on.
It was very exciting, and then class was over, and afterwards we all stood around and talked.
While we're talking, the girl with the many heads goes outside and starts trying to pop all the balloons. She's having a very difficult time.. she steps on them and nothing happens and she gets angry at them.
So I went over there and asked if I could have them! So she gave them to me!
Then I was going to walk David to his ride, but it turns out he was staying late to meet with his presentation group. So instead, he walked me to class, and we met up with Chris along the way who told us a story about Japan.
He was walking down the street in Japan, when a drunk guy on a bike ran into a pole. Man.. I can sorta imagine driving drunk, since when you're driving, you just sit there.. But I can't imagine biking drunk.
The pole crushed the man's eye. He turned to Chris yelping and gushing blood all over the street. And the blood stain stayed there the entire time Chris was in Japan.
It came up 'cause Iw as talking about the guy I saw who fell off his skateboard and the blood made this trail all the way to the sewer drain, so it looked liek someone got killed and their body shoved into the sewer or something. And the stain stayed forever, because it was in a tunnel, protected from the elements.
So we get to class and David points out a weird staircase.. man we have to go ninja on the microbio building now... I told David he should come to class with me, but he had to study in the library, so I told him I'd go find him afterward. We decided to meet at the map of Utah.
Our library is very weird. It has giant framed maps of really fucking random states hanging up in important places.
Like Utah. And Wyoming.
Anyway, so I go to class, I sit in the back of the room and my balloons hover near me. The whole time we're listening to presentations. It's pretty neat.. I learned a lot about Cuba, and the IRA, and the Canary Islands. But at the same time, it was boring, and I only had one sheet of paper.
So after drawing on it for a while, I grabbed one of the balloons and Chris and I made the face look like the teacher!
After class, I went up to the teacher and gave it to him! It was great. He took it in good humor and was kind of excited about it. So cute!
So with that distraction, I ended up being late to the library. David had been standing in front of the Utah map for so long, he had actually memorized various parts of it, and when I came down, he told them to me, and pointed out various random and intriguing things, and conspiracies, and it was really creeeepy.. you'd have thought he'd been standing there most of his life the way he was so familiar with the map. SORRY DAVID!!
Then we wandered a bit for no reason, and I went to get somethign to eat, and then we came up with an idea for something to do with the rest of the balloons! We'd decorate the Nihon Club room with them to scare people when they walked in! So we walked over to the room and hung up all the demon heads. Then I drew a squiggly guy saying "Ma" and David drew a quirky man with no body, just legs. And then he wrote "THE STRONG EAT THE WEAK" in japanese that took up the entire board.
Then I turned of the lights, and we sat in the dark doing aboslutely nothing which was weird but oddly calming. Then the last bus of the night was coming, so I ran to catch it and David went back to study. Um.. I think I forgot to mention somewhere in there we found a kimono gallery.. that was cool and inspiring for clothing design. But yes. I went home. Going home was weird because I only had 15 minutes before I had to leave for Nihon Club, and I managed to do about 20 things in that short amount of time, so it made time seem long.
Then I went back to Nihon club, and not only was the club there, but Sensei was there too! Everyone was like, "Why the hell are there balloons and pictures??" I had to try to explain in Japanese.. There's no word for "random" in Japanese...
Oh I forgot to say.. in the morning, in Japanese, we got to judge some posters that the ninensei did! They were supposed to be traffic warnings! Some were really in depth like, "You don't want a game over for your life, do you?" With lots of drawings. And some were just like, "CAUTION!!!!" or "Stopping! " That one was funny 'cause it was all gramatically incorrect, and yet only said one word. The best was one that the guy apparently missed what the assignment was and drew the four seasons.
We got to give out first, second, third prizes and "Special." Maso-san leans over to Chris and asks, "What does 'special' mean?" He says, "Like short-bus special." So we gave it to the four seasons one.
It was also funny 'cause then I got to go to their class and see them, and ask who drew what.
So back to Nihon club... Only two people showed up! It was sad.. We had all this stuff to do, but first we had to finish ripping up milk cartons, and since there were only a few of us to do it, it was slow and not fun. That's all we ended up doing... reaching into the smelly water to grab the cartons and ripping them up..
So we gossipped a lot and Maso made up a song about Japanese that was sooo creative and really long too.
Then all of a sudden, David showed up!!
Just to say hi, so I left the club to walk him to his ride. He tried to take some of the balloons but we had tied them too tight.. So he gave up, and I walked him out, and then ran back in 'cause it's now below freezing. Sensei left, and we all sat on the floor and ripped paper for another hour. In the middle of this, the janitor comes by a few times asking when we'll be done.. he's getting really angry, eventually we feel bad enough to leave, and I took all the balloons home with me.
So now I have demon head balloons!
And thus it was a fun filled day of adventure.

That's my story.
It's like three weeks old.. oh well.

Here's something I've been thinking about....
My name is Jennifer. I think of myself in my head as Jennifer. I introduce myself to people as Jennifer.
My long time friends call me Jen and I find that natural.. I guess it's like a nick name thing..
But for some reason.. Everyone else calls me Jen too. Like even teachers, and people I just meet, and even people I meet online...
In high school I went by Jenshin. It's a mix between Jennifer and Kenshin, as I used to go to school dressed as Kenshin. People started calling me that. I always feel like nicknames have to be earned, instead of you making them up yourself.
Sometimes I don't like people's names, so I make up new names for them.
Anyway, so I don't know why people call me Jen, but that's fine. It just intrigues me.. And it also intrigues me when I call myself Jennifer and people go, "Woah! You used your real name!" What name was I supposed to use?
Jennifer isn't too bad of a name.. it's got an f in it. Not a lot of names have f.
I think my personal favorite letter, though, is A. A is just a great letter.
What kinds of things do normal people write in these live journal things?
Well.. I've got to go do homework.

Farewell.

Japan and Anime Expo.

I went to Japan. I love Japan.

Then I went to Anime Expo 2005.

In Japan I bought 30 volumes of manga for 24 dollars.
At Anime Expo I bought Orange.
By Morimoto.
I love that man.

And now I am currently searching for some people that I met.
1. The person who bought Feeling from the art show. Who are you?
2. The people who call me Pointy. Pointy!!
3. The Lute cosplayer.. She seemed cool.
4. The people who drew stuff in my sketchbook. Whee!

Hm.. I need my mail key back.

Oh yeah, I have this journal thing

Hey I suck at keeping up with this livejournal stuff..
It's 'cause I'm on DrunkDuck, and that works just as good as an LJ for me.
So if you really wanted to keep up with my life... http://www.drunkduck.com/Two_Moons
Does html work in here? Not sure... I won't bother trying.

So I made a cake.
I don't really know why.
I'm not a big fan of cake, I like brownies.
But I get jealous of people who have cake when I don't.
So then I make myself a cake.
And it sits here..
There's no one to eat it.
If you want to eat it, you can come over to my place and have some.
It's a chocolate cake with two layers and frosting.
But it's all from boxes, so it's not anything great.
It sorta tastes like sugar.

Cosplay!!

So I finished my cosplay project!
Phew...
Go check it:
Recognized Membership in Cosplay
Thanks to everyone who participated. I really think I had the best project in the whole class, with the best outcome. I really feel like I've accomplished something here, and I'm proud of that. That wouldn't have been possible without all the cosplayers I followed around all semester, and all the wonderful people who took the time to do my survey. Thanks.

A side note: So I got over my fear of fan art and now I'm thinking I should do some to sell at Anime Expo. But the thing is, all the series I'm a fan of are things that no one has ever heard about before, or are so old that no one cares about them anymore. And I don't want to draw something I don't care about - that just won't work. So my next thought is, hey, I should draw all the crazy cosplay people fan art that they like. Then I can be motivated to make good art for cool people. So what do you guys want?
